--- Our House Gallery: Construction #5 ---

This page contains pictures of the progress of building our house, from painting to just before tiling. The pictures are in reverse chronological order.

27 June 98: A view of the left side of our house, showing the garage door, the power meter (top middle), the gas meter (bottom middle), and the continuous-flow gas hot water system (left of the garage window):

24 June 98: One of the controllers for the continuous-flow gas hot water system. There is a master controller in the kitchen, and remote controllers in each bathroom. The temperature can be set via these controllers, e.g. to set a comfortable temperature for showers without having to mix in cold water (and thus saving gas). We don't have a hot water cylinder; instead the water is heated via gas as it is needed, which saves money (why heat water that isn't being used?) and means we can never run out of hot water (important with the large spa bathtub):

24 June 98: One of the two ceiling fans; we have one in the lounge and one in the master bedroom. Should be nice in summer! The one in the lounge even has a remote control for the fan speed and light brightness!

24 June 98: The bathroom shower again, after the base was screeded to create the fall to the waste. Part of it was left un-done, as the pipe needed to be lowered to the correct level:

21 June 98: The inside of the switchboard, while it was still being installed:

21 June 98: An example of a set of light switches, and of the wallpaper (too much yellow in the picture, though):

21 June 98: The kitchen sink installed, prior to the lever tap being fitted. To the right you can see a closeup of the wires for the power points in the bar upstand. The kitchen place will being adding another panel in front of those wires:

21 June 98: The toilet and heated towel rail (still boxed) in the main bathroom:

21 June 98: The main bathroom vanity, with the lever tap fitted, and the heat/fan/light unit still in it's box:

21 June 98: The vanity in the ensuite, with the tap and heat/fan/light unit. They installed a white tap instead of a chrome one as we requested:

21 June 98: The oven and DishDrawer dishwasher were delivered:

21 June 98: The bathroom shower again, after the shower waste was installed:

17 June 98: The bathroom shower again, after the concrete was cut. I removed the cut chunks myself, using a crowbar; you can see the edge of one of them in the foreground:

11 June 98: The main bathroom shower, prior to the concrete being cut. The marker line indicates the area to be cut:
