I ordered a new MacBook Pro in December, for Apple store pickup when I’m in the Palm Springs area next week. But they delivered it to the store early, then today cancelled it. And, of course if I were to redo the order, it wouldn’t be available till March. Very frustrating.

As part of moving from a 5-acre homestead into a 40-foot motorhome, we’re significantly downsizing, selling most of our stuff. We’re taking the things we want with us, and storing some sentimental items, but the vast majority of our stuff holds little sentimental value, or use in our new home; the accumulation of our lifetimes, and especially of our homestead time, where our stuff has expanded to fit the available space — many items we forgot we had, or is still brand new, unopened! Crazy. Getting rid of this stuff is very freeing.
Anyway, we couldn’t have done this downsizing without the help of professional estate sellers. We’ve lucked out in working with a couple of great guys, Tom and Mike of A Bridges Estate Sales. They’ve put in a huge amount of work over the past several weeks in sorting through our stuff, cleaning and laying them out on tables, pricing them, and will be selling them.
Our estate sale will be over four days, since we have so much to sell: September 9-12. Yes, in a couple of days time. Check out the sale listing page (which is still being updated as they prepare the last items).
As another sneak peek, here are a bunch of pictures of our stuff, from before we headed out on our trip to Yellowstone (so some items are not yet laid out or priced in these pictures). If you see things you would like to buy, do come to the sale! Look at the sale listing for more information.

On the Sinclair Trails blog: we have now purchased our motorhome. It is a 40-foot 2017 Tiffin Allegro Bus 40SP diesel pusher.
On the Sinclair Trails blog: tomorrow we will be completing the purchase of our motorhome, staying the night in it at a campground. 🚌💵
Today we sold our 2011 Nissan Rogue car, via our excellent estate sale guys. It was a great car, but we’ll be towing our pickup behind our future motorhome, so it was time for it to find a new home. Here’s a pic of Jenn and me from when we bought it in January 2011. 🚙

On the new Sinclair Trails blog (yes, it exists now!): tomorrow we’ll be doing a seven-hour roundtrip to check out and hopefully purchase a coach that looks like a very good fit for us. Wish us luck! 🚌💰
Since some people asked, our estate sale is scheduled for September 9-12. The old Macs I’m selling include:
- Original iMac G3 (powers on, drive doesn’t mount).
- Graphite iBook G3 (power supply dead).
- 2005 Mac mini G4 (powers on, I couldn’t get it to display anything).
- PowerMac G5 (works).
- Old-school clear plastic Apple Cinema Display and Apple Cinema Display HD (works with G5), and aluminum Cinema Display HD.
- 2006 MacBook Pro (works on power supply only).
- 2008 MacBook Pro (works).
- Two mid-2011 iMacs (works).
- 2013 MacBook Air (works).
- 2017 iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch (works).
- About 10 hard drives of various sizes.
- A bunch of spare keyboards etc.
- I also have a bunch of ancient iPods, iPhones, iPads, and Palm devices, and various other stuff.
They will be included in the estate sale in September. Put it on your calendar if interested in them, or our other stuff. It’s going to be a huge event! Sorry, no advance sales.
(Everything in that picture will be for sale, other than the contents of the two plastic bins on the floor.)
Well, that’s very disappointing. The deal on the RV we were purchasing has fallen through. So now we’re back to the drawing board, searching for another coach. We’ve still got time, but that was a perfect one for us; we were so excited to find it. Alas!
