On the homestead blog: another hot day, though not as hot as yesterday. I restrained myself on the duckling pictures, though. 🦆

On the homestead blog: time has no meaning at present, but the all-powerful overlord CAL-N-DAR informs me it is Friday… so time for pictures of chickens and adult ducks. #FlockFriday 🦆🐓

Flowers of the day, adjacent to the veggie garden: Greek oregano, another favorite of bees (as beekeepers, we appreciate plants they like). 🌱🌼🐝

On the homestead blog: it’s a hot day today, so I went out to the duck house a few times to refresh their pool water… so I ended up with 40 photos. And just for fun, after the usual selections, I’m going to share a GIF of all of them! 🦆

My wife is taking next week off work as a much-needed vacation, pretending she’s in Mexico or somewhere nice (it will be around 90° for most of the week). I have an infinite amount of work to do, but am thinking about joining her in taking a break. I think I need it too.

We had big plans for vacations this year, including a 3-week trip to NZ, a couple trips to Ashland, etc. But now we don’t expect to go anywhere this year. Or for the foreseeable, really.

Video: when giving the ducklings their leafy kale treats this morning, instead of ripping it into small pieces and tossing it to them as I usually do, I just held some and let them pull off bits. 📹🦆

Flowers of the day, again from the veggie garden: strawberry flowers and unripe fruit. 🌱🌼🍓

On the homestead blog: today is the start of the ducklings' fourth week, which is when they get to go out into the run (which I did a day early), and can have a bit deeper water in the pool. 🦆

The answer to today’s What’s It Wednesday question, as correctly guessed by nobody, is a solar panel for our swimming pool, and specifically a repair I did to a burst in one of the tubes. Better luck next time! #WhatsItWednesday

Let’s play What’s It Wednesday again. What do you think this is? #WhatsItWednesday

Flowers of the day: another from the veggie garden — tomatillo, with a bumble bee in the second picture. 🌱🌼

On the homestead blog: an exciting day for the ducklings: this morning I reassembled the duckling run, and let them out of the duck house for the first time. It was also the first time they and the older ducks have seen each other. 🦆

Video: today I reassembled the fenced run for the latest ducklings. I got a bunch of pictures that will be in today's ducklings blog post. Here are two clips: playing in the mud, while Betty quacks at them, plus using the paint tray pool. 📹🦆

The Micro.blog photo challenge for August is now over. It was a lot of fun; thanks to @macgenie for organizing it! You can see all of my photos for the challenge via the tag "mbaug" on my blog.

I was just reminded of this Heinlein quote from Time Enough for Love: 💬

2020-09-01 · quote

The correct way to punctuate a sentence that starts: 'Of course it is none of my business but —' is to place a period after the word 'but.' Don't use excessive force in supplying such moron with a period. Cutting his throat is only a momentary pleasure and is bound to get you talked about.

Flower of the day: a Roma tomato flower (with some green tomatoes also visible; we’re just getting a few ripe ones at present, but very soon will be drowning in them). 🌱🌼🍅
