Last week I mentioned finding our homestead in 2013. So of course we had to acquire a bunch of garden equipment to maintain it; pictures from June 2013. I do kinda miss my toys, but don’t miss the maintenance. #ThrowbackThursday
GardenEquipment
On the homestead blog: I got myself a handy homestead addition: another garden cart.
The Micro.blog challenge word for day 9 is “force”. When chopping down a dead tree, pruners aren’t sufficient; I need the force of a chainsaw. 📷🌳 #mbnov
Random comment: I really like self-retracting hose reels (retracts using water pressure just by flipping a switch).
The answer to today’s question: a backpack sprayer. I spent a couple of hours this morning using it to spray weeds in our paths and gardens. I hand-pull weeds in areas around the ducks etc, but there are too many to do that everywhere. #WhatsItWednesday
On the homestead blog: yesterday I spent the day doing landscaping stuff, weeding and mowing.
On the homestead blog: clean mowers.
This morning I whipped up a dirt sifter out of a 2×4, a bit of hardware cloth, and other scraps of lumber, to enable things like more easily harvesting potatoes. 🔨
Using a pond rake, that has a float attached, to scoop out a bunch of leaves from our pond. Leaves are a natural part of the ecosystem, but they reduce the oxygen in the pond as they break down, which isn’t great for the fish.
