My most popular @YellowCottageHomestead TikTok video so far was this simple pan over our beehives; I guess people enjoy the bright colors (we do too):

On the homestead blog: more pictures from our ice storm: generator, chickens, ducks, bees. βοΈπππ¦πβοΈ
Remember flowers? None blooming around here at present, but I still have a bunch of unpublished pictures from summer, so here are a couple of peppermint flowers with bees, taken in August. I hope our bees are hibernating well. π±πΌπ
On the homestead blog: we did a quick half-hour visit to our beehives today, to swap out the mite treatment strips and add “bee juiceβ, a syrup of sugar water to help the bees build up their winter stores, since there arenβt many flowers blooming at this time of year. π
On the homestead blog: today we added mite treatments and top feeders to all of our beehives, preparing them for fall and winter. π
Flowers of the day, adjacent to the veggie garden:Β Greek oregano, another favorite of bees (as beekeepers, we appreciate plants they like). π±πΌπ
On the homestead blog: harvesting honey from our beehives. ππ―
Flowers of the day: since I used a pumpkin flower as my Whatβs It Wednesday question yesterday, it only makes sense to feature it as the flower of the day today, with a tiny pumpkin in the first pic, and a pollen-covered bee in the next ones. π±ππ
Flowers of the day: dahlia, with a bee trying to get in. π±π
Flowers of the day: a self-seededΒ butterfly-bushΒ in one of our flowerbeds, fairly popular with our bees. π±π
