On the homestead blog: a post summarizing summaries of projects. Want a convenient place to see my various construction projects? Enjoy!
Month: August 2019
I run our portable generator for a little while every three months, to keep it in working order. We’ve never used it during a power cut, but it’s nice to have, just in case.
I feel like I’m always posting pictures of Rory and Paladin, but it’s been almost two weeks since the last one… so here are three: Rory and Paladin looking the same size, dainty puppy, and enjoying a sunbeam. You’re welcome. 🐕🐈
Tonight’s pizzas out of the Ooni Koda pizza oven: a margherita for me, and a pepperoni for Jenn. 🍕
On the homestead blog: beehive inspection, harvest, treatment, requeening, an epic three-hour (plus half hour the next day) session at the hives to collect lots of honey, inspect, treat, and replace a couple of aging queen bees.
Congratulations to @aleen for the release of the App Launch Map Field Guide! I’ve been in the app development business for a couple of decades, but this was still an insta-purchase for me; I can always use more help in getting the word out about my apps.
The everbearing strawberries keep on coming. Plus a bunch of zucchinis (gave some bigger ones to the chickens), and some cherry tomatoes buried at the bottom. The roma tomatoes are starting to ripen, too.
Congratulations to Stephen and Myke of Relay FM on their five year anniversary! My favo(u)rite podcast network; I listen to numerous of their shows, and am a member (highly recommended, if only for all the bonus content).
I’ve decided to stop using the #dejus365 hashtag on my daily photo posts, since hashtags are a bit out-of-place on my favorite social platform, Micro.blog, and I don’t see sufficient benefit in using it. I still plan to post at least one photo every day.
Our deck at dusk, with the movie screen (pretty much only used during our annual party), new gazebo, new pool deck extension, swimming pool, and various lights and lanterns. #dejus365
